Cord co-principal Raila Odinga has had a rather tough year in the political arena, which he says denied him time to spend with his family.
He also lost his first son Fidel Odinga in tragic circumstances.
For this reason, the former Prime Minister says he will be treating his immediate extended family to a holiday abroad that will extend into the New Year.
BREAK FROM POLITICS
“Christmas should be enjoyable. It is the only time that politicians like me get to be off our busy schedules for some time,” he said during a recent interview.
“I am visiting a number of Southern Africa countries together with Mama Ida, our children and grandchildren and won’t be back till after the New Year,” he said.
“Let me take this time to wish all Kenyans a merry Christmas and a happy 2016 as I take a break from the political scene.”
He added: “I hope it will be peaceful for everyone and we won’t have terrorist attacks or road accidents.”
