A police officer was shot dead in Kasarani as he responded to a distress call from members of the public on Thursday morning.
His colleague was however not injured in the 3.30am attack, about a kilometer from the police station.
The Kenya Police spokesman Charles Owino said that boda boda operators in Sunton area had raised alarm after they were attacked by three armed men.
Two officers on night patrol duties rushed to the scene but then gunmen, who had laid an ambush, shot at them, killing Constable John Meme on the spot.
“He was shot on the chest and died on the spot. Investigations have been launched but no one has been arrested,” he said
