Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has been asked to resign following the death of a patient who stayed in an ambulance for at least 18 hours early this month.
Speaking on Saturday at Isitsi village during the burial of Mr Alex Madaga, 37, two leaders in Vihiga County demanded immediate resignation of Mr Macharia for allegedly failing to streamline his docket.
Senator George Khaniri and Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi said standards in the health sector were falling.

Mr Agoi, who is a member of the health committee in Parliament said, “Macharia is a banker. Challenges in banks are not similar to those in the health sector. The health matters are about life and death.”
He called on the CS to resign to pave the way for a competent person to be appointed to the ministry.
The MP said he would ensure passage of the Health Bill that is already before the National Assembly.
While echoing sentiments by Mr Agoi, Mr Khaniri asked the CS to explain issues that led to Mr Madaga’s death.
“Article 43 of the Constitution says every Kenyan is entitled to emergency medical attention. This did not apply to Madaga’s case. Someone is sleeping on the job,” he said
