Residents in Nairobi were able to access some health services as the ongoing national medical personnel strike did not disrupt all services.

Services at level four and five hospitals that include Mama Lucy, Mbagathi and Pumwani hospitals were provided by consultants and Doctors Without Borders, who offered outpatient and emergency services.

Nairobi health executive Bernard Muia said that the doctors’ strike only affected maternity and inpatient services.

Dr Muia said the hospitals had been offering immunisations, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and comprehensive care like tuberculosis treatment and ARVs provision.

However, chairman of county assembly committee on Health Manoah Mboku said the situation in the hospitals remains dire as they lacked essential drugs and other provisions.
