Cord principal Raila Odinga on Wednesday challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to “get up and report on duty.”

Mr Odinga threw the challenge to President Kenyatta at a press conference where he sought to speak on what he termed as “a sorry state of affairs in the country, particularly on the economy.”

The opposition leader has just returned from a trip to South Korea.

He said the country is on a road to nowhere, with government “overspending and over stealing.”

“Mr President, tell Kenyans where you are taking them, how you intend to get there and by when. Do not underestimate the urgency of the situation that Kenya is facing,” he said a press conference attended by Cord Senators and MPs.

“Since Jubilee came to power , it has insisted that the economy is growing and Kenyans can sit back and relax. We in opposition have warned that we are on the road to nowhere. We have warned that Jubilee is over borrowing, overspending and over stealing,” Mr Odinga said.

“Mr President, we need a clear roadmap to put Kenya on the path to sustainable and equitable growth. As opposition we stand ready to support measures that will steady the economy and ensure respect for our nation.

” We are ready to support a growth strategy that takes Kenya where it belongs. We know the league this nation should be playing in,” he said.
