A Mashujaa Day challenge has become a trend on Twitter with users taking photos while posing like the late Mau Mau leader Dedan Kimathi.
Dubbed #DedanKimathiChallenge, Kenyans on Twitter uploaded various versions of the hero’s photos.
Most of them opted to reenact the popular photo of Kimathi lying in bed with hands crossed on the chest.
October 20 was renamed from Kenyatta Day to Mashujaa Day to celebrate all heroes who fought the British colonialists for the independence of Kenya.
The holiday will this year be celebrated in Machakos County as part of President Kenyatta Uhuru’s regime effort to have two of three national holidays celebrated outside the capital city.
