The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has allayed fears that a hotel is set to be put up in Karura Forest.
Director Emilio Mugo said there was a request to put up the facility but the plan was shelved after the coming into force of a new law in 2007.
However, Mr Mugo admitted that KFS has been in contact with Ibis Hospitality Limited which wanted to develop the 25 acres of the Sigiria block for commercial use.
The company was making inquiries on the fate of the project, said Mr Mugo.
“At no time have we invited private developers to partner with us to develop eco-tourism sites in 180 forests across the country,” he added.
